Sunset Rose

Friday, June 3, 2011
The hour before sunset is always a pleasant time of the day and today was no exception.  I happened to be at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA and spent some time enjoying the roses in the beautiful maintained rose garden next to the polo fields.  I find that the late afternoon sun makes the colors of the petals come alive.

Sunset in Sedona

Friday, February 11, 2011
Known for it's red rock beauty, the area that surrounds Sedona, Arizona is spectacular anytime of day.  But at sunset, when the colors really come alive, it's awesome.

Sunset in Vernazza

Friday, January 28, 2011
It had been a stormy day along the Italian Cinque Terra with no hope of any decent light for photos.  I had dinner plans with friends so rushed back to the room to change then scooted down to the water's edge to meet them when I came upon this scene.  Needless to say, I was late for dinner but it was worth it to get this shot.

Desert Sunset

Sunday, January 16, 2011
Tonight's sunset was gorgeous.  The pinks against the blue sky made a spectacular show for those of us here in the desert.  Just one of the many reasons we live here.

Sunset on the Cinque Terre

Saturday, October 2, 2010
Evenings on the water can be soothing and romantic.  Sunsets only add to the mood.  And a good sunset makes it even better.

Cathedral Rock at Sunset

Sunday, August 8, 2010
Sedona, Arizona is known for its red rocks.  And they are spectarular, especially at sunset when the light is the best.  It was a bit of a walk to get to this location but it was worth every step to get a shot like this.  And I got there just in time before the light was gone.

Colors of the Sunset

Saturday, January 2, 2010

Nature's palette comes fully loaded.  This hibiscus, beautifully tinged with coral around a vibrant pink, is just a sampling of the wide range of colors to be found.  I couldn't have painted it better if I tried. That's what's so intriguing about using flowers as my primary subject.  They always inspire me.

Sunset Flight

Saturday, December 26, 2009

It was overcast most of the day today.  From LA to the desert.  On my way home from celebrating the holidays with family, I stopped to visit friends.  As I was leaving their property I spotted the sun kissing the distant hills across our valley.  But the treat was the bi-plane, probably giving tourists a sunset flight.  I hope they had their camera with them.

Poppy @ Sunset

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

I love searching fields in the French countryside for poppies.  Some years are better than others.  In a good year they're everywhere creating a blanket of red.  Some years they are far and few between.  Getting the light right is always a challenge and the late light on this one cast a slight yellow glow to the petals.
