Sunset Rose

Friday, June 3, 2011
The hour before sunset is always a pleasant time of the day and today was no exception.  I happened to be at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA and spent some time enjoying the roses in the beautiful maintained rose garden next to the polo fields.  I find that the late afternoon sun makes the colors of the petals come alive.

15 Minutes of Fame

Sunday, January 25, 2009

I just finished doing the three day Southwest Arts Festival here in the Coachella Valley. It's a lot of hard work, creating enough paintings to show the public, setting up the tent, art panels and all the other "stuff" to make your booth look nice. But last year I was chosen as the poster artist and fortunate enough to have my painting appear on a billboard. What a shock when a friend called to tell me. I had no idea. I now have the panel from the billboard rolled up in my garage. Some day I'll find a use for it.

High Flyin' Pony

Thursday, January 22, 2009

I spent most of the afternoon setting up for an art festival on turf that is normally used by these lovely creatures, polo ponies. It's amazing the transformation from a battle field of thundering hooves to 270 tented booths of artists and their beautiful creations. So for this weekend, it'll be a lot quieter without the polo ponies.

Yes, Cows Can Wink

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

I live in an area known as the date capital of America, but seeing cattle in a date grove doesn't strike me as a spot that has a lot of good feed for these four legged critters. Coming across this brazen bossy brought me to a quick halt as I grabbed my camera from the back seat to snap a few shots. Compared to the other shots I got of her, this one certainly looks like she's winking at me.
