The hour before sunset is always a pleasant time of the day and today was no exception. I happened to be at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA and spent some time enjoying the roses in the beautiful maintained rose garden next to the polo fields. I find that the late afternoon sun makes the colors of the petals come alive.

Morning Dewdrops

The kiss of dewdrops always adds a sparkle to petals. Almost like having diamonds sprinkled by Mother Nature.

Waves of Petals

I never realized that rose petals resemble a cresting wave. And this rose in full bloom is loaded. A regular tempest of a storm type of waves. "Batten down the hatches".

Just Sprinkled
Friday, July 23, 2010 at 10:52 PM
It was the middle of the day but the roses had just received a sprinkling to cool them off in the warm Santa Barbara afternoon. Each water drop looks like a sparkling diamond waiting to be admired.

Tea Rose
Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 9:46 PMI love the opening buds on tea roses. There's something elegant about them. The elongated shape with gently curling petals makes a dramatic statement. Some poeple like floribunda roses, others like the old style roses and some prefer clilmbing roses. There are plenty of choices and I'm sure there's a rose for you.
