Night Time in Vernazza

Thursday, May 26, 2011
The small towns on the Cinque Terre in Italy are quaint and charming but at night they take on a different feel after the tourists are gone.  Quiet and peaceful, it's a pleasure to stroll the streets, stop at an outdoor cafe for a drink or coffee and enjoy the ambiance.

Sunset in Vernazza

Friday, January 28, 2011
It had been a stormy day along the Italian Cinque Terra with no hope of any decent light for photos.  I had dinner plans with friends so rushed back to the room to change then scooted down to the water's edge to meet them when I came upon this scene.  Needless to say, I was late for dinner but it was worth it to get this shot.

Rainy Day Dining

Friday, January 14, 2011
The umbrellas come out, rain or shine, for outside dining in Vernazza, Italy.  This quaint seaside town along the Cinque Terra is one splash of color after another.  Even on overcast days, the town displays color where ever you look.

So Serious

Monday, December 13, 2010
This little guy was all over the waterfront in Vernazza, Italy.  It was hard getting a shot of him as he never stopped moving.  His dad ran the Pensione we stayed at and was a great host.

Fishing Fleet

Monday, November 22, 2010
I never actually saw anyone finishing in these boats but they are picture perfect and they were all in pristine condition.  These were some of the best kept boats I've seen in a long time.  Next time you're in Vernazza, Italy check to see if you can find any fishermen.

One Red Boat

Wednesday, October 13, 2010
For days, the little harbor in Vernazza, Italy, was void of fishing boats.  I guess that's because the weather was a little dicey if you wanted to go out fishing on one of these small vessels.  But suddenly we had great weather and all the boats that were sitting on the streets around town were in the water.  Beautiful, well kept, clean fishing boats.  All ready for a day's work.

Portovenere

Monday, September 20, 2010
Another spectacular day!! So we took the ferry from Vernazza to Portovenere, about an hour away. We stopped at three towns on the way and the view from the sea as you approach is awesome. Portovenere is a large port so there are lots of boats and yachts. Don't you just love the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous?”

Saturday in Vernazza

Sunday, September 19, 2010
It was a bit of a hike, but we climbed up the hill, over rocky steps set into the mountainside, to see this view. Along the Cinque Terre is a trail from town to town. Some parts are easy, some are very strenuous. But the views are spectacular. These old seaside towns are full of charm and character.

Rainy Day in Vernazza

Friday, September 17, 2010
We were hoping the rain would wait but it didn't. As it turned out, we had a great day taking photos, watching the waves break over the jetty, shopping and of course... eating. The food here is wonderful, but that's another story. As you can see, the fishing boats stayed in the piazza today and provided us some super shots.

Vernazza at Night

Thursday, September 16, 2010
This quaint seaside town, one of five that make up the Cinque Terre on the western coast of Italy, is quaint, charming and quintessential Italian. Beautiful by day, spectacular by night.
