It Snowed Last Night

Sunday, February 20, 2011
I live in the desert, in fact, my house is actually below sea level.  It gets hot here in the summer and yes, there is snow, but only on the top of the nearby mountains.  Mt. San Jacinto, which is the backdrop for Palm Springs is over 10,000 so we do get to see snow and there is a tram to the top so we can even play in the snow without having to drive in it to get there.

Nap Time

Friday, November 27, 2009

I live near Palm Srpings and you know when the "season" opens by the number of Canadian visitors we get.  And they have arrived.   Even the Canadian Geese are migrating.  They love our golf courses.  Lots of grass and water.  Except they're a real messy bird for being so beautiful.

Ricki

Monday, November 16, 2009

While having lunch at "Tyler's", the best hamberger in Palm Springs, our group was introduced to "Ricki", this darling dog.  She's pretty well known and got her own bowl of water while her daddy had his lunch.  In this shot it looks like she's holding hands with her master.

Out for an Afternoon Drive

Monday, November 2, 2009

I was in Palm Springs today celebrating my friend Patty's birthday when we noticed this classic beauty driving around the neighborhood.  And the weather was absolutely perfect to have the top down so they could enjoy warm sunshine.

Yes, Elvis is Alive!!!

Saturday, June 13, 2009

I've heard that Elvis was still alive but didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. And here he is! Notice the guitar shaped sun visors. And the embroidered names on them. No, this is not Las Vegas, but downtown Palm Springs on a June afternoon.

Still Waters Run Deep

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

I spent the morning in Andreas Canyon painting with my fellow plein air (outdoor) painters. Located in the Indian Canyons at the south end of Palm Springs, hiking up this canyon is like being in a different world. Lush native palms and a babbling stream loaded with water from the snow melt off the San Jacinto Mountains makes it hard to believe you're in the desert.

All Lined Up

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

I was scouting a local painting venue for an up coming workshop and came across this pool scene. This is classic Palm Springs. The way it used to be. Located at Smoke Tree Ranch, the atmosphere is a like taking a walk back in time. The cabana with the lounge chairs perfectly lined up, ready for tomorrow's sunbathers.
