The small town of Issiageac in the Dordogne region of France holds their "market" on Sundays and there's lots of things to see and buy. But I like to take to the side streets when I find neat things like this letter drop.

They may have been hanging in an Italian seaside town and who knows, they may belong to an American, or maybe a French man. Perhaps someone from Great Britian or Australia. Hmmm... How many other countries use red, white and blue for their flag?

French Windowsill
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 7:18 PMMedieval towns were short on yards. In fact, they usually didn't have any so if you want flowers, you have to grow them in pots on the windowsill. And they do a nice job. Begonias, amarylis and geraniums add bright colors to an otherwise bland house.

Door Panel

Wood carving is a dying art and it's a pleasure to see something as beautifully done as these wooden doors on the entrance to the lower chambers of the Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi in Assisi, Italy. The entire church is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. The marvel is the restoration of the frescoes that tumbled to the floor during an earthquake on September 26, 1997. The corner stone was laid in 1228 and this 700+ year old church holds many treasures.
