Desert Fuzzies

Monday, January 3, 2011
I thought I knew the name of this desert plant but no such luck.  I've combed all my botanical books and have not been able to identify this.  The flower is yellow, cup shaped and becomes this fuzzy remnant.  Anyone have an idea???

Chia

Thursday, April 15, 2010
This one's for you Mimi!!!  My friend Mimi and I used to volunteer at the garden center in our local botanical garden, The Living Desert.  It was fun, we learned about the desert plants and met lots of people.  One day a gentleman came in looking for a Chia plant.  We looked at each, had no idea what he was talking about,  thought maybe he meant those Chia heads you see advertised on TV are recommended he go to the local Walgreen's where he might find one.  Well, we were sure embarrassed when we discovered there really was a Chia plant!!!  So Mimi, this is what it looks like.

Desert Pinks

Thursday, November 5, 2009

I was driving home this afternoon and as I approached the stop sign I looked to my right and something unusual caught my eye.  It was pink and feathery.  I quickly turned the corner, parked the car and walked back with my camera to see what it was.  I don't know the name of this plant, but with the sun behind it, the delicate pink tones stood out so soft and delicate.  Without the sun hitting them that way, they were just another plant.  You never know when oportunity will strike, but I always have my camera ready.
