Pretty 'n Pink

Tuesday, March 16, 2010
I love spring.  I love the flowers that the warm weather brings and the wonderful fragrances of the blossoms.  I don't like the allergies but it's a small price to pay for Mother Nature's beauty.

Spring Blossoms

Springtime at The Huntington Library in San Marino, especially the chinese Garden, is a delight to the eyes.  this tree was covered with beautiful white blossoms.  I mean covered.  But it's the delicate stamens that give it character.

Spring Time in the Garden

Tuesday, February 9, 2010
It was spring in the garden at the Huntington Library.  The flowering trees were alive with blooms.  But for the life of me, I don't know the name of this one.  The gently curved petals, so smooth and elegant remind me of many varieties of flowers but as a tree blossom, I'm at a loss.

Spring Blossoms

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Living in a warm climate I'm fortunate to see trees and shrubs share their wonderful blooms earlier than most parts of the country. And what I don't find in the desert, I'm only a two hour drive to parts of Southern California that have a wide range of foliage to enjoy.

Joshua Tree Blossoms

Monday, October 20, 2008

We had an exceptionally good year for wild flowers this spring and when that happens I head up to Joshua Tree National Park. Known primarily for it's unique rock formations that climbers love to traverse, it's a virtual paradise of blossoms when we have sufficient rain. These blossoms on the Joshua Tree exemplify the beauty in this otherwise desolate area of Southern California.
