Shafts of Light

I've seen may pictures of the slot canyons in northern Arizona but when I experienced them for the first time I was awestruck.  A definite big WOW.  The way the light bounced off the walls and when shafts of light drifted down through the narrow slots you couldn't help but have your breath taken away.  A truly spectacular sight.

More of Slot Canyon

If you ever get to Page, Arizona, make a point to visit the Antelope Canyons just outside town.  They're on Navajo land and are some of the most spectacular weathered formations I've seen.  Yes, so is the Grand Canyon, but these hidden "slot canyons" are almost impossible to find if you didn't know where they are and one of those unique pieces of the landscape that'll blow your mind.  The narrow canyons, carved into the earth, are sometimes only as wide as a person and upwards of 100 feet high.  Take the photography tour if you want to get some great shots.

Antelope Canyon

Outside Page, Arizona are some hidden slot canyons.  What's a slot canyon?  It's an extremely narrow "slot" in the earth, created by millenium of erosion.  Sometimes they are so narrow you can barely pass through.  At the right time of day the sun streams in, creating shafts of light that are magnificient.

Glen Canyon Dam

Glen Canyon Dam is a marvel of engineering.  Built in the narrow Glen Canyon to provide hydroelectric power for 7 western states, it also provides some of the most awesome boating and naturally scenic beauty in America.  Take a tour of the dam if you're ever in Page, Arizona.
